West Lebanon Fire would like to extend our gratitude to Anita Howard and the Colten Howard memorial fund for the donation of this GSI grain rescue tube. WLVFD was 1 of 16 departments in this first installment of donations. Members had the privilege to meet Anita and hear her story of raising awareness on grain bin safety. For those who do not know Anita’s son Colten was killed in a grain bin engulfment in November of 2019. Since Colten’s accident Anita has set out on a mission to share her story and provide rural departments with rescue tubes to respond to grain entrapment incidents. While we hope to never need to use the rescue tube we live in an extremely heavily agricultural based community which imposes the risk of grain bin accidents. Thank you Anita for making this program and spreading awareness and education.
