Wildcat Creek near Jerome.
Mississinewa River near Ridgeville.
Wabash River at Lafayette.
.Recent periods of heavy rainfall have led to minor to moderate
flooding along Wildcat Creek, the Wabash River, and the Mississinewa
River. The flooding threat will persist over the weekend into early
next week in some areas.
* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE…Wabash River at Covington.
* WHEN…From this afternoon to late Monday evening.
* IMPACTS…At 20.0 feet, A few county roads begin to flood. Higher
bottomlands begin to flood. The first cottage upstream from U.S.
136 bridge may become isolated by high water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 4:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.8 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 19.7 feet early Saturday
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late Monday
morning.
– Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

Instructions
Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
